ambiguity

The saying things arnt always as they seem always comes to mind when i see ambiguous art. I love to look into the datail of a picture to see the houses and the bark on the trees, but to look at it as a whole its some thing compleatly different. these are actual psychology theorys of how the mind percieves things as a whole or in parts.... which deffinitly can be expieranced while gazing upon a picture such as the one below.
this is a painting by Oleg Shuplyak a Ukrainian artist he paints "famous figures from art and fiction with landscapes and images from nature" states the huffington post.
His paintings have included such people as John Lennon, Pablo Picasso, Sigmund Freud, Charles Darwin, Paul Gauguin, Zeus and Uncle Sam.
 this is one of my favorites by him it has a very homey and safe feel but the face is harse and unforgiving.... definitly a nice clash
